La versión de la Biblia del rey Santiago, que hoy celebra el 400 aniversario es la Biblia oficial, en inglés, de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días. La Iglesia ha tomado varias medidas para mejorar esta versión de la Biblia durante muchos años, incluso ha realizado un enorme proyecto que se completó en 1979 para crear su propia versión del rey Santiago con ayudas de estudio y otros recursos relacionados SUD.

La versión del rey Santiago toma su nombre del monarca inglés que ordenó que se realizara una nueva traducción debido a las preocupaciones que había acerca de las traducciones anteriores. Desde 1604 a 1611, 50 eruditos tradujeron laboriosamente las palabras sagradas de los escritos originales en griego y hebreo.
Al igual que otras denominaciones cristianas, La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días cree que la Biblia es la palabra de Dios y se alienta a los miembros a que la estudien y sigan sus enseñanzas. En un discurso de la Conferencia General de 2007 titulado “El Milagro de la Santa Biblia”, el élder M. Russell Ballard, del Quórum de los Doce Apóstoles dijo:
“No es casualidad ni coincidencia que tengamos la Biblia en la actualidad. El Espíritu indujo a hombres rectos a registrar tanto las cosas sagradas que vieron como las inspiradas palabras que hablaron y oyeron. Otras personas devotas estuvieron prestas a proteger y a preservar esos registros; hombres como John Wycliffe, el valiente William Tyndale y Johannes Gutenberg fueron inducidos, contra mucha oposición, a traducir la Biblia en un lenguaje que la gente pudiera entender, y publicarla en libros que la gente pudiera leer. Creo que hasta los eruditos de la época del rey Santiago tuvieron impresiones del Espíritu durante sus labores de traducción”.

Los Santos de los Últimos Días creen que la Biblia no fue la última revelación de Dios a la humanidad y que la revelación divina continúa mediante los profetas vivientes de hoy en día. La Iglesia usa la Biblia junto con otros libros de Escrituras: El Libro de Mormón, Doctrina y Convenios y la Perla de Gran Precio para aclarar y apoyar las enseñanzas bíblicas.

The version of the Bible of King Santiago, which today celebrates the 400th anniversary is the official English Bible of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church has taken several steps to improve this version of the Bible for many years, and has even completed a huge project that was completed in 1979 to create its own version of King Santiago with study aids and other LDS related resources.

Like other Christian denominations, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes that the Bible is the word of God and members are encouraged to study it and follow its teachings. In a 2007 General Conference speech entitled "The Miracle of the Holy Bible," Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said:
“It is no coincidence or coincidence that we have the Bible today. The Spirit induced righteous men to record both the sacred things they saw and the inspired words they spoke and heard. Other devout people were willing to protect and preserve those records; Men like John Wycliffe, the brave William Tyndale and Johannes Gutenberg were induced, against much opposition, to translate the Bible into a language that people could understand, and publish it in books that people could read. I believe that even the scholars of the time of King Santiago had impressions of the Spirit during their translation work. ”

Latter-day Saints believe that the Bible was not God's last revelation to mankind and that divine revelation continues through the living prophets of today. The Church uses the Bible along with other books of Scripture: The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price to clarify and support biblical teachings.
